THE MGCC MIDLAND CENTRE ANNUAL CHAIRMAN'S PICNIC

 SUNDAY 6TH SEPTEMBER 2009

Charlecote Park near Warwick

charlecote1

Once again the chairman of the Midland Centre, John Fry, invites all the natters in the area to the annual picnic which will take place at the National Trust's Charlecote Park near Warwick.

The event is being organised by the Kilsby natter, who celebrate their 15th birthday this year. It will be held on Sunday 6th September.

Charlecote Park is located 1m west of Wellesbourne, 5m east of Stratford-upon-Avon and 6m south of Warwick on the north side of the B4086.

It is still the Tudor home of the Lucy family who have lived at Charlecote for more than 700 years. There are strong connections with Queen Elizabeth the first and Shakespeare. It is rumoured that he was caught poaching deer from the park and made a hasty exit to London before he could be arrested, the then magistrate Sir Thomas Lucy would likely have taken a dim view. True or not you can still see the famous deer herd roaming the park beside the river Avon. The interior of the house is early Victorian and Capability Brown landscaped the grounds.

Charlecote Park welcomes many car clubs each year, we hope that all the natters in the Midland Centre will be represented on the day.

All participants will be entered into a draw with a prize of gift vouchers or a car magazine subscription of their choice.

Entry to the event which covers admission to the house and grounds will be £10 per MG which includes the driver and all passengers. National Trust members pay £2.50 per MG which includes the driver and all passengers.

Kilsby MG Club Annual Dinner

The Red Lion Kilsby

On Tuesday Evening 17th February 2009  Kilsby MG Club held its annual dinner at The Red Lion Kilsby.

44 members/wives sat down to a 3 course meal, during which celebration was made of the establishment of the club

Rick Willoughby, natter leader, made mention of the early beginnings of the club when after the inaugural meeting in March 1994, at which 17 people attended,  was followed on for several years with attendance levels  around 6/10 people, to the last few years when some 35/40 + members turn up regularly to attend the monthly meetings at the Red Lion.

Rick and Terry Baulch, joint natter leaders and inaugural members, presented the Club’s Annual Trophies.

Alan Winters and friend Christeen received the “ Broken piston “ and a bouquet of flowers for “Club Supporter Of The Year”.

Tony & Sylvia Lake received the “ Plaque “ and a bouquet  of flowers as “Clubman Of The year”.

Further trophies and bouquets for running events and support to the club during 2008 were given to

John & Kim Russell, Kieth & Pat Ingram, and Steve & Leonie Trowmans.

Tony Lake gave a vote of thanks to Rick, Terry and Dave Cotgrave  for their efforts in running the club over the year, with a nice bottle and a bouquet being presented to Rick and his wife Sue.

Finally a celebratory cake, made by member Sue walker, was cut and “Bubbly” shared by all in a toast to the club.

Thanks were also given to Landlord Tom, his Chef Ian & the staff of the Red Lion for the excellent meal and hospitality
